Stormwater Maintenance

When rainwater washes over our highways, parking lots, construction sites and farmlands, it picks up a wide range of pollutants and toxins. Then it flows into our streams, lakes, rivers, and oceans…untreated. This becomes a huge problem for the health of marine life, and ultimately, for humans, so it’s important for any government, business or organization responsible for a physical plant and/or campus — which is most of us — to properly manage this storm water runoff.

APS Environmental, Inc. helps our clients to take a proactive stance on storm water management by

  • Helping them establish preventive maintenance plans for their storm water infrastructure, including inspection, maintenance and emergency response
  • Inspecting these assets under these plans to discover small issues before they become big ones, or to identify the source of unexpected runoff
  • Maintaining these structures as part of these plans in a way that fits with the property owners’ needs and does as much as possible to extend the service life of the assets
  • Responding quickly to emergency calls because even the best laid plans can’t anticipate every possibility

Many facilities were built with detention and infiltration systems to provide underground drainage and storage of excess storm water. We offer maintenance, inspection, surface cleaning and pressure-washing of these structures, along with

  • Catch basins and drop inlets
  • CDS storm vaults
  • Storm water pipelines
  • Surface areas where pollutants tend to collect

By cleaning storm systems, ground surfaces and removing corrosion from pipes, we can reduce pollutants that could harm our environment. This work will also help keep you compliant with environmental regulations and save you the time, expense and discomfort of violation citations.

Pipeline Video Inspection

This service is performed by inserting a special camera into a pipeline when human inspection is not possible due to hazardous conditions or inaccessibility. It provides a complete evaluation of storm systems, sewer systems or related pipelines to determine the condition of the inside of the pipe. Our equipment runs 250 feet and features include high-tech video/text monitoring along with a digital footage counter and DVD burner. It is a valuable tool and a cost effective way to diagnose roots intrusion, a broken pipe, a clog, or map infrastructure lay out.

Pro’s of a Pipeline Video Inspection

  • Diagnose Future Problems
  • Diagnose Current Problems
  • Infrastructure Inspections
  • Identify Specific Location of a Problem

Pipeline Inspection

With so much of water conveyance systems located underground, it’s often difficult or impossible to access lift stations, older manholes, long or small-diameter pipes and other parts of their infrastructure to visually inspect these system elements. When that happens, we use remote cameras, either mounted on handheld push rods, or carried along on a remote-controlled, wheeled tractor or other carrier, into the pipe or other asset where a human can’t go.

This service provides a method of making a complete visual inspection and evaluation of

  • storm water systems
  • sanitary sewer systems
  • related pipelines

to determine conditions inside the pipe.

Our equipment runs up to 250 feet into the asset. Features include

  • high-definition video/text monitoring coordinated with a digital footage counter
  • DVD burner to record, share and archive the inspection for future reference

This video inspection is a valuable and cost effective tool to diagnose

  • roots intrusion
  • broken pipes
  • clogs

or to map infrastructure layout. This helps us understand where your system assets are located, and how best to access them for cleaning, repair or replacement.

Benefits of using this tool include the ability to:

  • quickly and accurately diagnose current problems
  • discover and anticipate future problems
  • identify specific location of a known problem
  • save time, disruption and expense doing the above, instead of having to dig to inspect

  • Rust
  • Other debris

from all types of drain lines and surfaces. Businesses and organizations in any category – commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional – and even residential property owners and managers can find themselves in need of professional jetter cleaning.

The process is safe to use on

  • Interior and exterior surfaces
  • Process equipment
  • Heat exchangers
  • Floor gates
  • Deck plates
  • Floor surfaces
  • Any type of piping

When used as a part of your regular maintenance program, this service can assist in keeping your waste and storm water conveyance systems and equipment functioning properly with less down time. By preventing premature wear on parts, it can extend the life of your systems elements, and help prevent the need for emergency calls. Removal of heavy substance buildup returns your water pipes to their designed volume capacity, increasing efficiency and productivity.

We specialize in pipeline cleaning using Hydro Jet systems operating at 4,000 psi on pipes up to 42 inches in diameter. These high-pressure blasts of water can break through the toughest blockages, and remove years of built-up debris. Jetters can get the job done faster than a mechanical flail or foaming agents, returning your system to optimal operation quickly and with less down time.
